The Bori Story
Almost three years ago I was standing in the cargo section of the San Francisco International Airport. I was both nervous and excited about what was coming off that plane, holding a leash and water bowl in my hands. Two weeks prior I was speaking with my friend, Hanna, about rescuing a dog. I felt that it was finally time to take that leap of responsibility and bring some joy into my home. Little did I realize I was talking to the person who had helped rescue dogs out of South Korea for 10 years, with two of her own being from there.
The video popped up in my Facebook Messenger with a note saying, “You have to see this little guy”. This little white ball of fluff with a pink tail was spinning in circles and being so alert, jumping from lap to lap of the people around him. I fell in love instantly. Now, three years later, he practically doesn’t leave my side, with him trying to get my attention and stop writing this post. I thought the peanut butter-filled Kong toy would distract him long enough to get a few sentences out.
Rescuing Bori was one of the best decisions I’ve made in my adult life. Yes, I’m a Millennial woman who treats her dog like her child, and I don’t see the problem with that. I want to care for him, keep him healthy, and he brings so much love and joy into my life that’s not always there. If you’re thinking about adopting, I highly recommend it. Remember, they may be a part of your life, but you’re their WHOLE life.
